Re: Best Camera for self take photos?
the nikon d80s or the older version D80 or the new all singing and dancing D90 with 15 million pixels . you can set the timer to 3 seconds and then anything up to 59 seconds never used at that time but you never know.
expensive yes range from 600 to 1000 pounds depends on what lense you have with it.
from there down you have many choices if tony davies patrick comes here then i am sure he will help out . hes a genuius on cameras. you only have to see what he does on his dvds fishing or any of his books. like the globetrottesr quest.

hi mate . i alsways recomend the timer as best to suit you unles you spend a bit more cash and get the foot bubble squeezer very good indeed or even a remote one.
hope you catch a lump for your pics mate. if you know anybody that wants to buy a nikon F80 then i have one at bargain price of 300 pounds with lense as well. the lense is worth 200 pounds.
good luck tight lines .

The best camera for this job is the PENTAX Optio 33WR it is weather proof has rubber corners tuff as old boots with a 2.8 lens for low light all this and....... you can set the self timer to take "10 shots" rather than just the one!.... while you play around with the fish to get it right... and then just delete what you dont want!.. it is only a 3.2 mega pixels but it has a high quality lens!...
and only £99.99...
The only but is it will be a hunt to get hold of one now, maybe ebay?? but 100% worth the hunt I had two of them!...
"GET LOOKING TRUST ME ITS THE NUTS"

When you are buying your camera make sure that you buy a tripod; pocket or full size, it will make all the difference. I loaned my battered old tripod to a fellow angler and he wanted to buy it off me!
Re: Best Camera for self take photos?
Must Admit ....in all my years fishing I have never done a self take
but looking at some of my recent pics from last weeks trip to France I wish I had

Re: Best Camera for self take photos?
all you need is a tripod adaptor £4.99 stick it in a adjustable bank stick job done!...
Re: Best Camera for self take photos?
I'm glad if that works for you but a tripod is more stable for taking photographs. All the best.
Re: Best Camera for self take photos?
This is true CC i know what you are saying as photography was my old trade.CC wrote:I'm glad if that works for you but a tripod is more stable for taking photographs. All the best.
but what I tend to do is have it set up with test shots so everything is spot on and rock solid with the un hooking mat pegged down in place and it's all ready to go!. rain or shine?...
I have used tripods in the past but clips and springs go rusty in the rain.
Sayin that I wouldn't put my Nikon D200 SLR & Battery grip and lenses on a bank stick!...
Re: Best Camera for self take photos?
just a couple of tips for you ,when using a tripod. Get a bag to weight it down or peg it down mate.
you dont want to be finding that in the middle of the night, its got gusty . The tipod starts to shake. and Pics come out with one ear half a fish and a bag of boiles blown all over the place.
usualy all tripods have a centre tye down point. also peg down your mat where your shots are going to be taken so its all set to frame. good luck and send us some pics mate.

Self take camera - found one at last
Ive managed to solve this problem at last ! I tracked down a Canon Ixus IS95 from Amazon. This camera has lots of different modes for a self timer and you can even set the self timer to start when your face appears in the frame as it has face recognition !
Got it on amazon for £125.00 which is near enough half price !
