Carpquarry Catch reports for 2010 and 2011
10/4/10 – 17/4/10
We have had our first guest over from Cornwall Sid and his wife Lesley and there friends Ron and Viv. This was not a hardcore fishing holiday, It was a holiday with the ladies with some fishing aswell. Sid and Ron both done well smashing there PBs and also a French friends son who popped over for day for a BBQ beside the lake also done well catching the biggest fish within an hour of being there. Carp were caught from the smallest at 25lb up to 35lb8oz all the fish and missed runs were from tight to the far side cliff face from swims 2 to 4 using a baitboat with a couple of handfuls of Carpquarry pellet with a few freebe boilies and the same type on the rig. All the runs were on the Carpquarry Scopex, squid and red robin boilies.
Well done on your new PBs and we look forward to seeing you again soon.

Re: Carpquarry Catch reports for 2010 and 2011
Ive missed you, where you been? One good thing about my little puddle is that is does have more water in it than most lakes upto 20 acres,Have not got a clue where the bigger fish have gone but they have not come out yet this year, the best so far is only 35lb8oz. I think the people that have been out this year have done well in only managing to catch the minority of fish that are under 30 but you know what it is like I will have someone here who has only been fishing once or twice and he will have it off and get a few 40s. I think once the weather sorts it self out they will start to show. At the moment it is hot one minute for a week or two and freezing the next.

Carpquarry catch report 15th May - 21st May 2010
Catch report 15thMay-21st May 2010
This week we only had two guys fishing Gary and Sean from London, Again it wasnt the easiest weeks fishing but saying that the guys caught fish from the smallest 25lb8oz to early 30s,again none of the larger carp over 35lb were caught they seem to be more interested in eating the millions of tadpoles that are present at the moment.Well done to Gary and Sean who both had fish over 30lb and I hope you had a good 50th Gary and we look forward to seeing you again at Carpquarry.
All fish and lost fish was on there own bait T1 boilies and all runs came from the far side.

Re: Carpquarry Catch reports for 2010 and 2011
Just thought I would pop down to the lake for a quick session as no one have taken me up on my offer for exclusive use for a week for upto 4 anglers for only £600 in June or July 2010.
Anyway what a session 3 hours fishing 2 fish lost 2x 30lb plus and a 40lb plus all the fish were in swim 1, 3ft from the rod tip on our squid scopex and red robin boilies with a handful of Carpquarry pellet.
1 x 31lb
1 x 34lb
1 x 41lb
Have done a bit of a video but like a true professional batteries run out so how we have got a bit of all the fish, the video will be on the website later today.

Re: Carpquarry Catch reports for 2010 and 2011
I did expect a reply like that from you and I have to say I am not going to be hiring out my gear I am not a tackle tart and all that matters to me is that I get some action and fish on the bank for me its not a fashion show, Chris Yates uses an old split cane rod and as regards scales did not notice that you sore them on the video. As regards the fish care the mat / weigh sling inside was soaked but it may not show it that well on the video and the fish were only out of the water for a very short time and I have to disagree I think there was no problem with fish care.
Not quite sure what you mean by the proper carper but you do not have to have £2k worth of gear to fish Carpquarry we are here to offer a amazing lake with fantastic fish making a great holiday open to any carp angler as long as they go by my rules. We offer the ultimate carp holiday to everyone and not just the elite

Re: Carpquarry Catch reports for 2010 and 2011
Rig Choice
I know a few of you out there are questioning my rig choice for the video, so I will explain. I am fishing in very clear water straight down under the rod tips, I can see a good 6ft so who knows how far a carp can see. The main line which is florocarbon goes from the lead straight up to the rod so if this had any kind of tubing on it would stand out like a sore thumb ( the main line is not laying on the lake bed like it would if I was fishing far out ) Also the line was left slack ( no Bobbings ) just baitrunner on very slack, so that the line will move gently in the water if a fish brushed past it. The hook-link is also flourocarbon because of the clear water. There was also a standard safty clip and to this was a battered up old lead, when you look at the video and see the rig notice the gravel on the ground and you will see that the battered up old lead matches it perfectly and there is that type of gravel on the lake bed.
The result 3 good fish in 3 hours and a few missed/lost, would I change the rig when fishing like this? No way it works, If you want to catch more fish try to think like a fish and see things from its view and not just the latest fad.At the end of the day if what you have on the bank is upto the job all that matters is the last few feet to the hook.
I rest my case

Its not about what your rods and gear looks like but hey like ive said before you get what you pay for and hay i can afford...
as for hiring your gear out i would be well dissapointed with that gear and ive now shown this video to other carpers at work and they agreed with me..the gear put them off if they where to hire gear lol.even if it was not the tackle on offer you just wouldnt premote your water with that toot lol..
As for your fish care,whateva.. mr cypry was desperate for a drop of the wet stuff..
And you wouldnt diagree with your carpcare...
As for banging on about your rigs...we all use florocarbon i do and have since the caveman...and was only pulling your leg..
As for a proper carper i mean someone of more bankside vanity...you reap what you sow...and your only attracting the noddy....and this place could get the proper carper because of the place being so nice..
Alot of people was shown the video and thought your lake was a special place....
Oh yeah,,,CHRIS YATES is a arse!!!! full stop!!!
Re: Carpquarry Catch reports for 2010 and 2011
I dont mind a good bit of banter keeps the forum going, as regards the hire gear I have not got it yet still debaiting what to get, as you say its got to be good but not over priced as it will most likely get abused and I would rather not charge guys if they brake it by accident, I am sure you will have a view on the gear that fits the bill, rods/pods/bivvies not doing reels or alarms they can bring them on the plane and we already have beds / chairs /mat /landing nets /slings/ scales.
Mind you I did have one bunch of noddys here and they were a real pain I dont think they realy knew what way round the rod went, needless to say they drove me mad for a week.
