Moderators ????

OK, As the forum is growing rapidly I am finding it more and more difficult to keep an eye on all the posts now especially with having a baby ! LOL

What I'm thinking of is having some moderators to keep an eye on things.

Maybe a moderator for a section or a couple of sections.

Your thoughts please?

you know what shocks me the most about all this....Il tell ya...RICH signs in everyday and post and has been a prolific poster on ere and he's not been made a moderator

Plush there is alot more to it ..than just keep posting ... to be a moderator .....you have to see the bigger picture and have a bit of give and take

Ron I apprechiate that thier is more to being a moderator than just reading the posts, posting is required too, surley mod rights are earnt and not just offerd to anyone who can reply to a topic?

I understand forums, I will go out on a limb and say probably better than most, I have not asked to be a mod simply because thier have been few posts that have made me want to type, that's no slur on the members or the site it's just the way it is, I have no intention of fishing this year as I have bigger things to deal with, that's unfortunate for me and no one else, I still have a passion for the sport and choose to stay in touch with new idea's ect.

Back to topic though, thier have been few posts that have inspirred me to post, i'm posting now to just clear something up.....

For a forum you need a varriety of people for your mods, you need acitive posters, active readers and some thinkers. Not people that put thier hand up when the bone is thrown to the dog.

Sorry Jeff I understand what you did I was just shocked but hey if it works for you mate then nice one and well done, Wrongen knows me from old, we have been mates for many years and will continue to be for many to come, when he posts something regarding me like that and what he thinks I would be capable of it's because he knows it would have made sense to offer me the job, to be honest I hadn't even really considered myself for the role so i'm not fussed.

I am not a mod on Wrongens forum either but to be fair I moderate through him, meaning if I see something someone or even he posts thats wrong he gets a phone call explaining what I think and why and how I justify my thoughs and usually we find a middle point and things get done so I suppose I can be regarded as a silent mod thier LOL.
Seeing a bigger picture is not a mods job, that's the admin/owners job, a moderator is thier just to police the forum, if the mod is asked by admin/owner for an opinion then the rols changes for that time, that's why I usually have a moderators private section on any of my forums, only seen by mods and higher and only postable by mods or higher I would be shocked if Jeff had not already done this.
Mods are not Gods thier Staff, that's it end of, to many forums allow thier mods to have the say that's why I only really visit a handfull of forums these days, and here I am on one, see you on Wrongens space for another and if you look really hard you might even find me on a land rover forum or two LOL.

Sorry Rich I cant agree .......having Moded and been Admin on lots of sites ....you must See the bigger picture ....you have to give every one their right to their veiw ....even people like Wrongon ...who has quite strong views ....but you must allso be sean too step in from time to time ...if them strong views become offensive

I agree if a member becomes offensive it's a mods job to step in, it's not a mods job to shape the forum and try and make its future and what dirrection it should travel in, maybe you have got confussed with sometimes being admin and could be crossing that role into your moderator roles some times?

As for which catagory you slip into in the different types of mods I would say your a source of information on the sport this forum is about and that's why you have got the job.

If Jeff wants his Mods to have a God role then that's his choice LOL or a big head, self promotion what ever you know.

Apart from me I think it's only the mods and Admin posting at the moment isnt it. Must be doing something right then.

Yes you are quite right in what you say Rich ....Im afraid ( even though I was not a mod at the time ) I will never stand back and let some one post Lie's ....Mod or Not ........as I have built my reputation ...on telling the truth.

its very very easy for people to post incorect information on any forum Rich ....but let me ask you ...if you knew it was incorect would you just sit back and say nothink ( mod or not ) ????
