In the history of carp angling it must be.

The first 30, 40 and 50 ,all of them British records obviously. The interest in carp angling that grew because of the impact that Redmire made during it's heyday makes it still the holy grail of waters to fish "before you die" for a lot of carp anglers who still see the magic in carp angling, not just the pounds and ounces.

i have to agree with you big ron,it is the holy grail of carp fishing,so much history and nostalgia makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand up!!!!!

When you look back as a kid it was almost part of your growing up reading about this magical lake and the carp in it at school break time and passing it around class even then fishing formed small groups of friends who you would not normally talk to 'cos they were in a different class or year!...

I have never been there but.. its part of me...

has to be the number 1 all time lake, would love to go there, just for the chance to say "i fished there"

I fished it twice, in August 1988 for a weekend, and July 1989 for a week. Hooked two fish on the second trip (nothing on the first) and lost 'em both! It didn't matter, being there was what it was about. Walking in the footsteps of Jack Hilton, Bill Quinlan, Pete Thomas, Maurice Ingham, countless other 'names' and, of course, the great Dick Walker, was reason enough to be there. I think I could have even enjoyed it if I'd left my gear at home! The atmosphere is wonderful, you can almost feel the 'old, late-great, masters' watching your every move. I loved it. True carp anglers want to fish it, and should. There's more to fishing - and carp fishing - than catching fish.

click on the logo called host an image (15th flogo from left)
select your pic to upload
select a suitable size normaly 320 or 640 is fine
then upload it
click on copy link

then click on the logo called image which is next to host an image (16th logo from the left)
then just past the link you just copied

Hoping to get a 2 day trip in over the winter, not worried if I dont catch, just nice to go there.....
