Are they an unwelcome visitor if you hook into a big cat whilst your chasing that monster carp????

Re: Catfish - Good bad or just god dam ugly?
there are some major tussles gong on at the moment on some waters about carp fishing on cat waters.....
cat anglers have to use heavy gear to stop some of these moggies, where as the carp anglers are allowed to fish with normal carp set ups..
now the cats used to be fished for via big beds of pellets and large cat fish pellet baits, but as the cats have become big, they're picking up carp bait more and more.
its a reverse of pleasure anglers on carp waters, albeit the carp anglers at least have the sence to treat the cats with care.....
but it does seem as if the cats are taking over.
unfortunately for me, i cant afford to requip myself with heavy rods etc, so a few lakes that I had earmarked to fish, are now out of reach.
but thats the way things go, must admit, a guy I know recently returned from france, and had some real beasts on the bank, pig ugly, but what a beast to tame......
