Rookery Meadow, Evesham.
Hi,
Just got back from a week with my boys, at Rookery Meadow, near Evesham. This little water is just down the road from another Cotswolds Baits water - Vale of Evesham. We had the 3.5 acre lake exclusively to ourselves all week. It is very remote, quiet and peaceful. We saw no-one else all week, after the bailiff left us, having shown us around. If you're looking for a real get-away-from-it-all carp fishing trip, this could be it. However, be prepared to be pestered day and night, by micro-pasties! The lake holds only carp (apart from a very few tiny perch and small tench) but most of them seem to be under 2lbs in weight. There are definitely some big fish in there, because we saw them, but getting a bait past the little monsters, was very difficult - even 18mm doubles were attempted by these little fish. We had a couple of low twenties and three doubles, which isn't much for a week, I guess. It was worth it for the peace and quiet, though. Lovely venue. Probably better fishing later in the year, when you can stalk individual fish, and the weather is better than we had - gales and torrential rain!!!
