Favourite Carp Book
One of my favourite Carp books is actually more of a teaching manual rather than a straight out book. Its the Fox complete guide to Carp Fishing.
Its a softback with 243 pages of high quality photos with some great illustrations as well.
Its a great book if you have only just started carp fishing as the level of teaching is fairly basic but its got some great advice in it. Even if you are an intermediate angler its still failry useful though
It costs £17.99 and is available on the fox website and some tackle shops.

I total disgree...it has words in it and fancy pictures and how to tie some of the worlds most complicated rigs so bonus its a must not have in my book......
AVOID AVOID!!!!
Fav Carp Book
One of my favourite books is Carp Fever by Kevin Maddocks. I got this book when I was a kid and it opened my eyes! I think its out of print now but theres still a few copies of it floating around on the net.
Re: Carp Fishing Books
Ive got some kevin maddocks on video, carp fever vol 1-4 ,and i cant watch them as there to cringe worthy as the fish care is......well there aint any.... And after i see him hold a 30 with no mat and walk it back to the water i turned off and i aint watch it since or the rest.................
Not taking nothing away from the man himself....he's a good fisherman ....The first man to catch a 30 and a brace of 30's from very difficult waters............
But to see him on part one of them video's just done my nut in just the way he struck into each fish and most of them where pastie that didnt even warnt a strike......................

dont forget some of these videos are years old ..maybe before mats came out as for handling fish with out one ....us older anglers ..have caught and handled 100's of Carp with out a mat ...and they all went back in to fight another day in perfect condition
here is one from over 20 years ago ...no mat but the fish was fine
Carp love em lol
Totally understand that the video is years old but i still cant watch it,it turns me over...And i have to much pride and care for the quarry i seek,to look at old school seasoned anglers without fish care...Sorry it just does my nut in..........like it would if i see it on the bank now...Just ask some of the people ive fished with when i see people dragging carp in or miss handling them on the bank...and yes ive tried to show them the errors of there way but i get attitude or banned or a telling off or the fact im actually gonna be in a fight situation unless i keep me nose out.......................Im so glad things have changed well most of the time.but i wonder how many a carp took a bang on the bank back in tho's days............
Anyway Ron just a change of subject lol............me old mate worked at jag,yes i know its a big place but he worked in the spray side i think.........his names lee farley(northern wooley back lol) ...just wondered if you new him????

he also menstioned your dad was a member of black sabbath before they become famous...which he's talked about before lol
How mad, what a small world we live in lol
p.s im gonna be his best man at his wedding next year lol
Re: Carp Fishing Books
I think these kevin maddocks video's are 1990.but i think that was a recopy because he aint wearing clothes from the 90's its more like an 80's feel
Re: Carp Fishing Books
How mad, what a small world we live in lol
Yes it is ....him and his dad both brought some stuff of me when I worked at Jaguar as an Engineer
and I was only talking to Tony Iommi from Black Sabbath last month ...I grew up next door to him in Park Lane Aston, and the group used to practice in my house in the old days before they became rich and famous
as for videos/dvd and books

Carping Journeys - By Jason Rider & Friends
Reviewed by Jeff Hall on the 29th June 2009
Carping Journeys by Jason Ryder & Friends is now out and I was one of the lucky few to be sent a preview 1st edition copy of this great book.
When the book arrived I knew it was going to be something special by the sheer size and volume of tis book. With over 368 pages of text and photos this book is packed with info and is great value.
The book is a collection of short stories around some the worlds greatest Carp Venues. The stories are told by some of the most accomlished Anglers and reveals many of their tactics and tips. It is an essential purchase if you plan or indeed fish on the continent or even if you just dream of it!
One of my favourite chapters was the chapter by Keith Moors about how he found a lovely lake in France and subsequently purchased it and moved to France to live and make a new life.
A great insight can be gained into the methods and tactics that are needed to successfully tackle the lakes and rivers of Europe.
The book features many overseas anglers some of whom are fishing in their own back yards. First and foremost it is a publication devoted to the pursuit of big Carp and is far more than a holiday fishing guide. Over 120,000 words, more than 200 colour photos with 20 different authors. Carping Journeys visits two dozen venues across the continent in search of monsters and unique Carping experiences.
Including chapters from Chris Woodrow, Shaun Harrison, Jim Lightfoot plus many more! "
The book is great value for money and really screams quality!
All in all I would recommend this book for anyone considering a trip abroad !

Re: Carp Fishing Books
While this book is a far better quality than book one ....I was not so Keen on my pictures not being in my story, as it was in book one I can see why it has been done ( to reduce costs ) but being disleic I find it very very hard to read a full page of words without pictures to support it.
Re: Carp Fishing Books
Quest for Carp by Jack Hilton. A classic.
As for ANYTHING by Fox International.......NO NO NO ! Absolute rubbish! I don't believe half the rigs in that book have ever been tried by anyone at Fox.............Probably just copied from somewhere else.
