Le Moulin du Mee 2010 season - catch results
Week 1.
The weather played havoc this week with just about everything other than snow occurring. Driving rain, gales, sunshine, hail and frost meant that the carp never really settled into any pattern of feeding. Anyway, having said that the 4 regulars on this week managed to bank a total of 40 fish comprising a 45lb common, 44.4lb common and a 40lb common plus 19 x 30's, 13 x 20's 4 x doubles and a 41lb catfish. I feel they did well in pretty awful conditions. Pictures can be seen on the blog at carpdreams.wordpress.com
Week 2.
Our second week of the season saw some fabulous fish banked and certainly for quality it was pretty special. The weather was not really helpful to good fishing, with bright sun and a cold north/east wind blowing all week however despite this the lads did well. The group consisting of Kyle, Danny and the two lads, Bradley and Adam fished the home bank and Steve fished Deliverance on the other side of the lake. Jimmy also put a rod out some of the nights so that Steve had a bit of company. Pick of the catch was by Kyle (LD Fagg) who alone managed 31 carp including 5 x 40's and 17 x 30's ..............a big well done to the fellah !! Kyle also had the distinction of having a 40 as his first fish of the week and a 40 as his last !! The young lads both spent most days fishing Poplars lake where they hauled a good many singles and doubles as well as a tench or two but still managed some real quality carp from the main lake. Adam had 4 carp including a 45lb mirror and a couple of 30's and Bradley had a couple of 38's as well as another 2 x 30's in his 5 fish catch. Danny managed a 12 carp, half of which were over 30lb and included a couple of 38's whilst Steve included commons of 43.5 and 38.8 in his catch along with a 28lb sturgeon. Jimmy and I also managed a few fish including a 39, 38.8, 38.9 and 37.8 as well as several other 30's.
Tactics were large beds of pellets with boilies and hemp over. It seems that the heavier baiting policy of Kyle and Danny concentrated the carp in their area and enabled them to catch consistently throughout the week. They used about 100 kilo of pellet, 40 kilo of boilies and 10 kilo of hemp along with other bits and bobs. Rigs were simple hair rigs fished with light leads and slack lines which is also my approach wherever I fish these days.
The total catch for the week was as follows...
40's..........7 (46.5, 45.8, 45.0, 43.0 , 41.2 , 40.8, 40.4).
30's..........37 ( including 19 over 35lb)
20's..........22
doubles....3
singles......1
Total.......70 carp.

Week 4 results.
This week we enjoyed the company of 4 northern anglers plus ,for 4 days, we have a couple of Dutch regulars.
Top rod by a slim margin was Paul who managed 15 carp including 7 x 30lb+ carp and a new pb mirror turning the scales at 44lb 8oz. Alex also set a new pb with a stunning long 49lb 8oz mirror backed by 6 x 30lb+ carp in his 14 fish catch. CJ also managed 14 carp and set a number of pb’s with 4 x 30's in his catch. Jason only landed 8 carp but what cracking fish with 3 of them over 40lb including a great 44lb 6oz mirror stalked from the edge of the dam. Reinier and Ernest, regular LMDM anglers from Holland only stayed until Tuesday morning but still managed 6 carp including another new pb, this one for Ernest in the form of a cracking 41lb common. Jimmy also had a rod out for a few hours and managed a couple of fish including a mint 39lb mirror.
Total catch was 58 carp and one catfish.
40lb+……….6 up to 49.8lb
30lb+……….23 including 3 over 39lb.
20lb+……….28 including 15 over 25lb.
2 x doubles.
I feel that the lads did very well, in not the easiest conditions and are to be congratulated on being flexible enough in their approach to catch carp when just sitting behind the buzzers would have been time wasted. We saw more stalking and baiting up of the quieter little area’s than usual and without this willingness to move around the total catch would have been a good bit slimmer. Good fishing !!
