Re: What Rods???
2 3/4 test curve is a middle of the road tc, will cast 100yrds, and send a pva bag a good way as well, and still have a good feel when playing a fish, as you spend more time fishing, you may want to go up or down in the tc depending on how your fishing goes. there are some good rods around which wont break the bank, get down the tackle shop and have a look around.

Re: What Rods???
Save up your money for a better selection as that money aint no good to no one...you need to get a bigger testcurve than that 2-3/4 if your pva bagging as i found them shite 3,to 3.5 test will cover all your carping needs...
my advice is to not rush in and save your money up and get your arse down more than one tackle shop for advive....
greys and harding is the rods to have for a quality blank in my honest opinion...
but get your arse out there

I appreciate that buddy, but the issue i have is at the moment i only have 1 rod and its a *ahem* Dragon Carp and it cost me a tenner, i have a Shimano bait runner also.
I was looking at spending around 100 quid on 2 rods and another bait runner reel to last me a year so i can then build my gear up and look at spending the big bucks when im a little more experienced.
What do you think?
2 Rods for £100
Nealy,
I would go for 2.75lb tc as they will cope with most situations. You can always save up for more expensive rods like Greys etc in the future
These are great rods for the money and will cope with most situations if you are just starting out

Two Nash rods for £90 !!!!

If you took Wrongens advice he would have you kitted up like him and mrs on this pic i found of them using their lightest carp fishing gear below
NASH WHORE LOL
Your such a Nash whore aint ya admin.
If i could of laid money on it good old admin would come through with something from the Nash camp lmao....
Anyway in fishing you get what you paid for....And my advice is still the same save up and just fish with the one rod till you can afford something thats worth fishing with...
and believe me...2/3/4 are shite and to soft now days.....
I only Know one noddy that fishes with 2.3/4 rods and he owns this website....
Anyway fishing with one rod has its advantages......you can hown your skills more to the fishing situation and most of us experience with 3 rods out that one rod is more prolific...
In my last reel session in england it was all one rod for a whole week......
So save up and get some good line on that reel and some proper end tackle and do your research and get some fishing in and then fish on the bank....
In the words of my late uncle wrongen ................SLOWLY SLOWLY CATCHIE CARPIE..

Re: What Rods???
I'm looking at new rods as well atm, but not sure who's name I'll be spending on... had Armalites,SP 3lb tc and they where fantastic casting tools, last of the brown carbon weave, lovely rods to cast with, not forgiving under the tips thou.... Nash pursuit SU's, 2.75tc, awsome rod, cost a furtune, not like the Pursuits they chuck out now.
using JRC's at the moment in 2.5tc, and would just go up in tc.
But I have ben looking at soniks, a mate has 6, 2.75 and 3lb tc's, in both ranges as well, 3 and 4's, I like the 3's full handle, and they do look nice, so might be swayed.... plus 3 for £200 in the SK3 version is not bad money at all.

Kit choice
nealy, I would have thought the one bit of advice missing from the offerings so far, is to have a deep think about the type of venue you fish most and what you are comfortable with, if it's a "puddle" then you really don't want 3lb ish tc rods but if you aspire to firing big leads 100's of metres across an inland sea then that will be an essential element in your choice. If you are like a lot of people fishing "day ticket" waters in the UK then I'd suggest you will have a lot of pleasure from some Nash Hooliguns (well in your price range). There are some on the forum that will slag that suggestion but they should remember that not everyone is an "elite" angler and all have to start somewhere. Liken it to motor racing everyone would like to be an F1 driver but to get there you need to serve your apprenticeship in Formula Ford.

Re: What Rods???
finally made my mind up on what rods to get, went into get them, only to find they where out of stock, and ended up buying some rather nice 3lb tc Fox Horizon SFD, at a cracking price to boot, so looking forward to getting out and having a play with them in anger....
